Smithereens – Music Box Supper Club

Despite the passing of their founding lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist Pat DiNizio in 2017, the alternative rock band from the 1980s is still actively touring. The group, which includes three original members – guitarist Jim Babjak, drummer Dennis Diken, and bassist Mike Mesaros – is joined by guest vocalist Marshall Crenshaw. Marshall Crenshaw, who has had an impressive career of his own, will step in for the late DiNizio. The performance kicks off tonight at 8 o’clock at the Music Box Supper Club.

Over the past three and a half decades, Steven Page has solidified his position as one of the most identifiable and enduring musical talents. Demonstrated through his recent album, Excelsior, it’s evident that his commitment to his musical journey remains unwavering. Following the album’s release, Steven, along with The Steven Page Trio, has embarked on tours across Canada, the US, and the UK, with scheduled performances extending well into 2024.

Having been a founding member, lead vocalist, and songwriter for Barenaked Ladies, Steven’s vocal prowess and songwriting prowess shone in hits like “Brian Wilson,” “If I Had A Million Dollars,” “What A Good Boy,” and “It’s All Been Done,” among numerous others. His tenure with the band resulted in a remarkable 15 million albums sold, alongside an array of accolades including Juno Awards, Billboard Music Awards, SOCAN Awards, Gemini Awards, and two Grammy nominations. Departing from the band in 2009, Steven embarked on a solo journey, yielding five solo albums, including 2022’s Excelsior. This phase of his career has taken him across the globe, performing at venues ranging from folk festivals and cabarets to theaters and even packed arenas as he joined forces with rock legends The Who.
