Friday, August 18th

Smithereens – Music Box Supper Club

Despite the passing of their founding lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist Pat DiNizio in 2017, the alternative rock band from the 1980s is still actively touring. The group, which includes three original members – guitarist Jim Babjak, drummer Dennis Diken, and bassist Mike Mesaros – is joined by guest vocalist Marshall Crenshaw. Marshall Crenshaw, who has had an impressive career of his own, will step in for the late DiNizio. The performance kicks off tonight at 8 o’clock at the Music Box Supper Club.


STEVEN PAGE (FORMERLY OF BARENAKED LADIES) – Cain Park

Over the past three and a half decades, Steven Page has solidified his position as one of the most identifiable and enduring musical talents. Demonstrated through his recent album, Excelsior, it’s evident that his commitment to his musical journey remains unwavering. Following the album’s release, Steven, along with The Steven Page Trio, has embarked on tours across Canada, the US, and the UK, with scheduled performances extending well into 2024.

Having been a founding member, lead vocalist, and songwriter for Barenaked Ladies, Steven’s vocal prowess and songwriting prowess shone in hits like “Brian Wilson,” “If I Had A Million Dollars,” “What A Good Boy,” and “It’s All Been Done,” among numerous others. His tenure with the band resulted in a remarkable 15 million albums sold, alongside an array of accolades including Juno Awards, Billboard Music Awards, SOCAN Awards, Gemini Awards, and two Grammy nominations. Departing from the band in 2009, Steven embarked on a solo journey, yielding five solo albums, including 2022’s Excelsior. This phase of his career has taken him across the globe, performing at venues ranging from folk festivals and cabarets to theaters and even packed arenas as he joined forces with rock legends The Who.


Grandmaster Flash – Rock and Roll HOF Plaza

Having refined his Quick Mix Theory during the 1970s, Grandmaster Flash pioneered the art of scratching records for DJs. Consequently, the induction of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five into the Rock Hall marked the historic moment of the first hip-hop group to achieve this honor. Tonight at 8, the legendary hip-hop icon will grace the Rock Hall with his presence.


Saturday, August 19th

Cleveland Guardians vs. Detroit Tigers – Progressive Field

Tigers come into town for a 4 game series. If we had to choose one game to go to it would be on Saturday when the Guardians induct former Indians players Manny Ramirez and Dale Mitchell into the Cleveland Hall of Fame.

Tennis In The Land – CLE Downtown Flats

The annual tennis tournament kicks off and will run until August 26 at Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica. This year, the lineup showcases four Grand Slam champions, among them Sloane Stephens, the 2017 US Open victor, who is set to compete in the Monday night matches on August 21. Lauren Davis, hailing from Gates Mills, and who has secured a WTA title this year, will make her third appearance in the Cleveland tournament. Returning to defend their titles are last year’s Tennis in the Land Singles Champion, Liudmila Samsonova, along with Doubles Champions Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Ellen Perez. Goo Goo Dolls — The Big Night Out Tour

Upon its inception in Buffalo back in 1986, this alternative rock band exhibited a raw musical style, possibly mirroring the gritty essence of their hometown. Over time, the band honed and polished their sound, achieving substantial album sales throughout the ’90s with chart-topping radio hits like “Name,” “Slide,” and “Iris.” Tonight at 7, the seasoned alternative rock group will take the stage at Blossom for a live performance.



Lakeview Cemetery Concert Series – Lakeview Cemetery Cleveland

The Lake View Cemetery Concert Series presents an excellent chance for local residents to enjoy a complimentary outdoor musical event this summer. Set against the backdrop of the Garfield Monument lawn, this three-part concert series offers a truly distinctive urban experience, featuring top-tier jazz performances from the city. The concerts are scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m., with free admission for all attendees. In the event of rain, the festivities will be postponed by a week.
