Our Top Places to Treat and Spend Time With Mom

Cleveland Aquarium Mothers Day Weekend

Discover some incredible facts about animal parents during the “fin-tastic” Mother’s Day Weekend at the Greater Cleveland Aquarium. Did you know that Surinam toad eggs are embedded into their mom’s skin, or that green tree python moms coil themselves around their eggs during incubation but abandon their offspring once they hatch? Take part in a parenting-themed contest and enjoy extended hours from 9 am to 6 pm (last entry at 5 pm). Moreover, visiting mothers will receive a parent pin upon arrival.

Stephanie White, the Aquarium’s General Manager, emphasizes the significance and lasting impact of shared experiences. She believes that a family outing to the aquarium, particularly one that involves teamwork to complete a trivia challenge, can facilitate a deeper connection with loved ones and the natural world.

Merwin’s Wharf

Merwin’s Wharf is situated at Irishtown Bend on the Cuyahoga River, offering breathtaking views of the water and wildlife. It’s conveniently located near various recreational activities. The restaurant is nestled in Cleveland’s Flats neighborhood, a post-industrial area. Merwin’s Wharf seamlessly connects visitors to urban green spaces while providing them with a selection of fresh, locally sourced, and seasonal menu items to enjoy.

Char

With a 22-seat hardwood bar offering more than 130 varieties of whiskey and a menu that emphasizes soups, salads, exquisite sandwiches, and luxurious burgers, this place is like a refined version of a backyard BBQ. The pistachio-crusted goat cheese appetizer ($13), served with naan, honey, and seasonal preserves, and the jumbo lump crab cakes ($15), pan-seared and accompanied by lemon aioli, are both excellent choices. Be sure to try the house-smoked short rib, which is featured in various dishes and is the star of the show.
