Pride In Cleveland

The Pride in CLE event, organized by the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland, is set to make its return on June 3, 2023, featuring a vibrant march and festival.

According to Gulnar Feerasta, the senior director of programs, Pride is more than just a fleeting moment; it represents an ongoing movement. As an integral program of the Center, Pride plays a vital role in propelling the movement forward.

While Cleveland has a long history of Pride celebrations, the Center introduced the annual Pride in CLE event in 2016. Due to the pandemic, the past two years were commemorated virtually, but last year saw the return of in-person festivities.

The march will weave its way through downtown, culminating in the festival held at Malls B and C, located between First Energy Stadium and Superior Avenue. Attendees can anticipate an array of entertainment, food trucks, and local vendors, creating an atmosphere of joy and celebration.

In a press release, Feerasta expressed that the event is fueled by the community’s pride in self-expression, love, and the intentional uplifting of the diverse intersectional identities within the LGBTQ+ community.

Beyond revelry, the Pride in CLE event seeks to advocate for and empower the LGBTQ+ community in Cleveland. The Center’s announcement highlighted the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community across the United States in 2022, including infringements upon their access to basic healthcare and education. In 2023, there will be a heightened focus on advocating for queer individuals who are consistently misrepresented.

With its return to downtown Cleveland, Pride in CLE promises to be a dynamic and inclusive event, fostering solidarity, visibility, and progress for the LGBTQ+ community.
