Keep Driving Right By the Border

If customers are looking for traditional Mexican street tacos in a typical setting, Condado Tacos may not be the ideal choice. The brand, originating from Columbus, Ohio, offers a unique and unconventional dining experience that has been incredibly successful since its launch in 2014. With graffiti art decorating the walls of its 42 locations, Condado Tacos stands out both in terms of its menu and ambiance. The tacos are crafted with innovative ingredients and flavors, and the bar menu goes well beyond the usual selection of freshly made margaritas.

According to Chris Artinian, the president, and CEO of Condado, founder Joe Kahn aimed to create a taco joint with broad appeal and a “unique and creative atmosphere.” The restaurant strives to foster an environment that celebrates individuality and encourages guests to be their authentic selves. This lively and creative atmosphere translates into the fun and inventive nature of the food.

Tacos As You Want Them

Artinian describes Condado’s menu as having a “flair for spice and flavors,” comparing it to Taco Bell’s flavors but on a whole new level. The extensive taco menu features options such as the Korean BBQ taco with double-decker soft-flour and hard-corn shells, smoked cheddar queso, slow-roasted pulled pork, gochujang barbecue sauce, pickled jalapeños, and pineapple salsa. There’s also the Braised + Confused taco, made with a soft flour shell, rice, braised beef brisket, jicama and cabbage slaw, pickled red onions, queso fresco, and chipotle crema. Another standout is the Bad Habit taco, which includes a “Ju-Ju” shell filled with tequila-lime steak, rice, lettuce, pico de gallo, queso fresco, Mexican chimichurri, and habanero-mango sauce. Several tacos are served with a “Kewl Ranch” shell.

Condado also offers plant-based tacos and kids’ options, alongside various quesos, guacamoles, salsas, nachos, and Mexican street corn as sides. Guests have the freedom to customize their own tacos, bowls, or nachos based on their preferences.

What’s a Taco Without a Margarita?

If you want, you can come in on a Friday night, enjoy a fantastic margarita, and spend time with friends for as long as you like—whether it’s an hour, an hour and a half, or two hours. They can accommodate that in their sit-down environment, offering a wide selection of tequilas, margaritas, and other spirits. Additionally, they provide the speed and convenience to match or even surpass our competitors in the fast-casual or quick-serve segment.”

Artinian also notes that Condado’s tacos start at around $4, allowing the brand to compete favorably with limited-service concepts in terms of value.
