Cavaliers Mid-Week Review: 1/10/24

1 – Awesome Allen

Jarrett Allen is enjoying January so far, averaging 18.5 points per game, almost four more points per game than his season average. And his 14.5 rebounds per game in the month is four more than his average in the season.   He currently shooting a sizzling 66.9% field goal percentage. 

2 – LeVert

If Allen did not have a career hot streak, the top item to discuss would be Caris LeVert, who is having a great 2023-24 season.  According to Cleaning the Glass, LeVert’s usage rate is second on the team to Donovan Mitchell, and per his position, he ranks in the 90% in usage.  It shows on the floor, as the Cavs bench has been solid recently. 

3 – Merrill Magic 

Along with Craig Porter Jr., Sam Merrill is having a wonderful season in Cleveland.  His usage rate per his position is at 70%, and his three-point shooting is the best on the team by a large margin, as Merrill is currently shooting 44% from the three-point line.  Even when Darius Garland returns, JB Bickerstaff will need to find minutes for Merrill.
