Browns Report 10/18 – Injury Updates and Player/Coach’s Comments

1 – Watson latest

Deshaun Still Hurt

QB Deshaun Watson did not practice on Wednesday but did speak to the press.   Watson hopes he might play on Sunday against the Colts but is officially day-to-day.   “It’s a strain,” Watson said. “It’s a micro tear, so it’s small.”

“I’m not going to put the team in jeopardy if I can’t do certain things that are going to allow us to be handicapped in certain situations,” Watson said.

It will be PJ Walker again this week as the starter if Watson is a no-go.

2 – The rest of the injury report

There is some good and some bad with the Browns latest injury report.

The good is LG Joel Bitonio was limited but back practicing on Wednesday, and WR Cedric Tillman was also back practicing full go.

Kareem Hunt

Unfortunately, there were some adds to the DNP with Harrison Bryant (hip), Kareem Hunt (thigh), Greg Newsome (hamstring) and Anthony Walker (concussion).

3 – Stephanski Praises Tomlinson

DT Dalvin Tomlinson had a great game on Sunday against the 49ers. Head Coach Kevin Stefanski talked about how disruptive Tomlinson is for opposing defenses, “He’s very disruptive and he’s a very large man. And when that large man is disruptive, it’s good for our defense.”

When asked why the running defense is better in 2023, “I think, as you can imagine, it’s multifaceted when you talk about that. Obviously, it’s playing our style of defense, it’s some of the guys that we’ve brought in. Dalvin (Tomlinson) comes to mind as a really good run defender, obviously Z (Za’Darius Smith) and Ogbo (Okoronkwo).”
