The Browns in the past 72 hours have been restructuring contracts. According to Field Yates of ESPN, the Browns signed a new contract for DE Myles Garrett creating$12.8 million in 2023 cap space.
They also restructured G Joel Bitonio, first reported by Over the Cap, to create $7.9 million of space as well.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com, the Browns now have the most salary cap space in the NFL with $35 million of room. Cabot also reported that this was done for management purposes and not for any planned signings.
RT Jack Conklin returned to practice briefly on Sunday but did not finish practice returning back to concussion protocol. No word on his return and or further updates at this time.
James Hudson III will be in his place until he returns.
The Browns are sticking with K Cade York for now as there are no signs yet of any replacement kicker coming to camp.
There’s been a lot of social media chatter about current Browns punter and the holder on York kicks, Corey Bojorquez, being the problem. There have been claims he is not doing a good job holding the ball for York, and former Browns Punter Dave Zastudil (Twitter handle – @zasty9) has weighed in on Twitter:
Why would he still be holding then? This is the NFL…if it’s the holder’s fault he would be replaced. I’m sure they both are working on getting it right.
That Zastudil comment holds a lot of weight behind it.
