Let’s Take 1!

Another one-run game another late-inning loss. Important for the Guardians to get long innings from starting pitching in game 2.

Pitching Matchups

Keep in mind that the starters during doubleheaders can often change shortly before game time, but at the time of this preview For Game 2, we have Detroit’s Eduardo Rodriguez facing off against Peyton Battenfield.

Cleveland scores 4.62 runs per game (18th) and hits .239 (19th) with a .689 OPS (25th). The Guardians have hit eight home runs (29th) and stolen a league-leading 25 bases. The pitching staff has compiled a 4.14 ERA (12th) and a 1.23 WHIP (7th) with eight quality starts (3rd).

Guards Starting Pitcher

Right-handed pitcher Peyton Battenfield will be on the bump for the Guardians and has had a great start to the 2023 season. He has pitched just 4.2 innings this season, but he gives us confidence that the Guardians will win this game. Battenfield has pitched 4.2 innings this season and holds a 1.93 earned run average and 0.83 WHIP. He should be able to outpitch Tigers pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez today.

Tigers Starting Pitcher

Left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez has struggled to start this season and will most likely have trouble slowing down this Guardians lineup. Rodriguez has pitched 16 innings this season and holds a 4.50 earned run average.
