The Guardians were down 6-2 in the bottom of 8th with one out and nobody on, Cleveland looked like they were about to lose again at home when lightning struck! Four consecutive hits followed by Josh Naylor‘s big three-run bomb to go up 7-6, and two batters later Andres Gimenez’s hit a home run to make it 8-6 to seal it. It is only May, but wow did they need this victory!
Guardians hitters one thru five all had at least one hit tonight giving the much-needed runs.
On a night when the Guardians did not have Emmanuel Clase available, Trevor Stephan came in and got the much-needed save for the Guardians. It was not pretty, but he did what was needed.
In a remarkable turnaround on Saturday night, the Guardians snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with a stunning 8-6 comeback win against the Los Angeles Angels. Josh Naylor’s three-run homer in the eighth inning proved to be the pivotal moment, as Cleveland rallied from a 6-2 deficit with six runs in that inning alone. Andrés Giménez also homered in the eighth, while earlier in the game, the Guardians had been struggling with bad baserunning and some tough luck. But in the end, Naylor’s homer sent the crowd of 27,644 fans into a frenzy and earned Cleveland their most improbable win of the season, much to the delight of the dugout and the fans. Eli Morgan picked up the win on his 27th birthday, while Trevor Stephan recorded his second save. For the Angels, Mickey Moniak hit a home run and scored three runs, while Zach Neto hit a two-run homer. Mike Trout, who was hit by a pitch on the left elbow, bravely stayed in the game to score a run and return to his spot in center field wearing a compression sleeve.
