3 Things About Guardians Loss to Tigers:

1 – Another Early HR Sinks Guards

In back-to-back games, the Tigers hit a home run in the 1st inning, today it was Spencer Torkelson hitting a two-run shot before Logan Allen was able to record an out. Allen did settle down after that, going six innings while only giving up two runs.

2 – Four Hits

That’s it, four hits.  The Guardians hit a lot of balls that turned into amazing catches on Sunday for the Tigers and the Guardians were unable to put much pressure on the Tiger’s pitching staff.

3 – Season Series to the Tigers

With today’s loss to Detroit, the Guardians lose the season series to the Tigers and still have three more to play back in Motown.

Game Summary

In his final appearance at Progressive Field, Miguel Cabrera singled during his last at-bat. Spencer Torkelson and Kerry Carpenter both hit home runs as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Cleveland Guardians 4-1 on Sunday. This victory secured the season series for the Tigers, marking the first time they’ve accomplished this feat since 2015. Cabrera, who is set to retire at the end of the season, was honored by the Guardians in a pregame ceremony where he received a guitar. Despite going hitless in his first three plate appearances, the Detroit slugger managed to connect with a hit down the right-field line in the eighth inning against reliever Eli Morgan.

In the seventh inning, Carpenter launched another home run off Enyel De Los Santos, achieving his 17th of the season. Later in the same inning, Baddoo added to the scoreboard with a pinch-hit RBI single. Eduardo Rodriguez (9-6) delivered an impressive performance, allowing just one run while striking out six batters over 6 2/3 innings. This outing helped the Tigers secure a 7-3 record against the Guardians. The two teams are set to conclude the season with a three-game series in Detroit. Cleveland’s recent struggles have resulted in 15 losses out of their last 22 games, placing them at risk of falling behind in the AL Central division standings. Logan Allen gave up two runs over six innings but received minimal support from his offense, which only managed to score a total of 10 runs in the four-game series.
