Those two stats say it all right now for Plesac. He’s not an everyday starter currently, and what is frustrating is he will show signs of being dominant in starts, and then the next start be unhinged while giving up big numbers.
Unlike last year, the Guardians have young starters that are ready and that helps make the decision of sending down Plesac even easier. With Logan Allen and Tanner Bibee, I don’t see them going back down anytime soon, and Peyton Battenfield is not on the same level as Allen and Bibee, but he is competitive and deserves the start over Plesac.
There is hope for Plesac, and a reminder that Plesac is just optioned, not released from the club, so seeing Plesac again this season in Cleveland is not a crazy statement.
Plesac clearly has passion and wants to win, he needs to learn how to harness that energy on the mound. From a mental makeup standpoint, I think it will be good for Plesac to just focus on himself and his craft. A side story all year from Plesac has been chatter about him fitting in with the club, I have to imagine that has been a distraction if true. I will be rooting for Plesac, and I see him returning to Cleveland at some point before the season is over.
