3 things About the Big 10 Media Day – Buckeyes Ryan Day Presser Style

1 – QB Situation Unclear

Buckeyes Head Coach Ryan Day did not have an answer when it came to naming a starter for the upcoming season opener against Indiana.  He likes both Devin Brown and Kyle McCord, and he even mentioned that he has been impressed with Lincoln Kienholz, but no one is standing out.

When it comes down to Brown and McCord, Coach Day said it will be determined in practice, he hopes. “Now it’s going to be time to put it out on the field and we’d obviously would like for someone to emerge here quickly, but we kinda have to see once we put it on the field.”

2 – Feeling good about the OL

Josh Fryar

Coach Day is feeling good about the offensive line, even though there will be new starters at the tackles and at center.  Coach Day “We have enough people there that we feel good, we can find that, but they have to go do it.”   In particular, he said Josh Fryar “looks good” and he is projected to be the starting left tackle.

3 – End of the 2022 season

The Buckeyes’ season ended in heartbreak losing to Michigan and a close defeat to Georgia.  He believes the big plays the Buckeyes gave up on defense were the difference “Explosive plays certainly is what really was our Achilles heel going down to those last two games. We know that. We’ve talked about it.”

How much does it burn Coach Day to lose both games to end the season? “We talk about it every day. We do. We’re not going to sit there and let it beat us twice but it is a motivating factor for sure.”
