Three Things Heading Into the Purdue Game This Weekend

1 – Latest on Henderson and Egbuka

Head Coach Ryan Day announced RB TreVeyon Henderson is on track to play on Saturday against Purdue.  WR Emeka Egbuka, on the other hand, is still questionable with a leg injury.  “We’ll probably have a better idea of how he’s doing later in the week,” said Coach Day.

2 – Day on the run game

Coach Day spoke to the press about the lack of a running game against Maryland.  Against the Terps, the Buckeyes were only able to get 62 yards on 33 carries, with the passing game leading the way in the second half.  A question was asked to Day: why not pass it more with the struggling running game?  “Throwing for 450 yards in a game is great, but it’s going to catch up with you later in the season if you can’t run the ball.”

3 – Day on OL with the run game

Regarding the offensive line with the running game, Coach Day was blunt with his assessment that it is an execution issue, not a talent issue or scheme issue.  Day said, “We’ve just got to execute better. We’ve got to coach it better, and that starts with me.”
