In a surprising move, the Guardians traded starting pitcher Cal Quantrill to the Rockies for a single-A catcher prospect, Kody Hall.
This move made room for Cleveland pitching prospect Scott Espino on the 40-man roster.
Also, this move has brought up the possibility of Shane Bieber returning to the Guardians next season. With Bieber, the rotation is set with Triston McKenzie, Tanner Bibee, Logan Allen, and Gavin Williams.
On Friday, the Guardians traded for reliever Scott Barlow from the Padres for Enyel De Los Santos. One has to figure out that the Guards wanted Barlow for experience and consistency, as both pitchers have similar numbers. It helps that Barlow has pitched mainly in the AL Central for the Royals in his career, so he is familiar with the division.
The Guardians have also decided to bring back Ramon Laureano on a one-year contract worth 5.15 million dollars.
The outfield situation is something to watch, as it would be great for Cleveland to sign a free agent to the outfield.
With the signing of Laureano, the outfield seems jammed with Steven Kwan, Myles Straw, and Will Brennan. Kwan is staying in left field, but center field and right field are up in the air at the moment.
