1 – Play Ball!

The Cleveland Guardians start their season tonight in Oakland against the Athletics.  The first pitch is at 10:07p, so keep your energy drinks handy and the coffee hot.  Shane Bieber is making his 5th consecutive start on Opening Day for the Guards.

Even though it stinks that the Guardians start the season in Oakland late at night, with March weather in Cleveland and the Guards having spring training in Arizona to begin on the West Coast, I see it as an advantage.

2 – Vogt Era

Welcome to the Stephen Vogt era of Cleveland baseball, where Vogt will manage his first big league game Thursday night.

3 – Guardians win total

Most gambling sites have the Cleveland Guardians under/over win total at 79.5 wins.  I would take the over, and I am figuring the Guardian’s win total makes it with 81 victories.

The Guardians are slight favorites to win the opener, and I would take Steven Kwan to get over 1.5 total bases in the game at +135 (via Draft Kings).

4 – Cavs lose again

It is not an overreaction; it is time to start worrying about the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs have lost four out of five games and are now in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings, with the Magic only a game out.

Cleveland ended last night’s game with Charlotte scoring the final eleven points to win 118-111.

There are rumors that Donovan Mitchell will be back for Friday’s home tilt against the Sixers. FINGERS CROSSED

After Philly, the Cavs go on a stressful five-game West Coast road swing, starting against the defending champs, the Denver Nuggets.   GULP
